Get started with Slides To Video in minutes

This page helps new users install, launch, and use the add-on correctly. It also explains key features and fixes the most common setup issues.

What you can do with the add-on

  • Convert Google Slides decks into MP4 videos.
  • Create GIF exports for short looping previews.
  • Add background music for event slideshows.
  • Reuse existing decks for family, school, or team communication.

Quick start after installation

  1. Install from Marketplace. Add Slides To Video to the same Google account you use in Google Slides.
  2. Open your presentation. Use any ready deck with photos, captions, or slides you want to share as video.
  3. Launch the add-on. In Google Slides, open Extensions and start Slides To Video.
  4. Choose output settings. Pick MP4 or GIF and adjust slide timing.
  5. Render and share. Download and share your result in messaging apps, email, websites, or event screens.

Common install and permission issues

If the add-on does not open correctly, most cases are permission related. Accept all requested permissions, then close and reopen the add-on from Google Slides.

If your organization account blocks add-ons, ask your Google Workspace admin to allow Slides To Video for your domain.

Best practices for better results

  • Use large, readable text on slides.
  • Give text-heavy slides longer timing than photo slides.
  • Use MP4 for most final videos and GIF for short loops.
  • Keep one clear message per slide for stronger pacing.
